2017 BROWNLOW MEDAL – BETTING GUIDE

2017 brownlow medal betting guide

The Brownlow Medal night is a great time for punters with plenty of value to be found in all types of markets.

While in 2017 it appears to be a one horse race with Dustin Martin the clear favourite to take home the medal, there are plenty of markets to find some value.

As is the case every year, analysts have crunched through all the data and stats from the rounds during the 2017 home and away season and compiled their spreadsheets and predictions.

Aussie Bet Offers has also done its homework and come up with what we think will be the top 10 for this year’s Brownlow Medal.

Here’s what we came up with:

2017 Brownlow Medal Predictions – Top 10

1. Dustin Martin (Richmond) – 38

2. Patrick Dangerfield* (Geelong) – 37

3. Tom Mitchell (Adelaide) – 28

4. Josh Kelly (GWS) – 24

5. Matt Crouch (Adelaide) – 23

6. Rory Sloane (Adelaide) – 22

7. Zach Merrett (Essendon) – 21

8T. Josh Kennedy (Sydney) – 19

8T. Lance Franklin (Sydney) – 19

10. Gary Ablett (Gold Coast) – 18

2017 Brownlow Medal Predictions – Leader After Round 5

1. Ollie Wines (Port Adelaide) – 9

2. Rory Sloane (Adelaide) – 8

3. Patrick Dangerfield* (Geelong) – 8

3. Dustin Martin (Richmond) – 8

5. Joel Selwood (Geelong) – 7

5. Zach Merrett* (Essendon) – 7

2017 Brownlow Medal Predictions – Leader After Round 10

1. Dustin Martin (Richmond) – 15

2. Josh Kelly (Greater Western Sydney) – 13

3. Rory Sloane (Adelaide) – 12

3. Patrick Dangerfield (Geelong) – 12

5. Zach Merrett (Essendon) – 11

As you can see, while Dustin Martin is odds on to claim the medal, his start of the year wasn’t as good as the likes of Sloane, Wines and Dangerfield. Betting on the “Leader after Round 5” market offers plenty of value, especially with Ollie Wines paying around $10 to win (which we have on top of the leaderboard after round 5).

Club by club betting is also great way to extract some value from the market. Mitch Duncan has had a breakout year at Geelong and could easily surpass many by polling more votes than Joel Selwood, who had a year riddled with injuries. While over at Adelaide, Rory Laird and Matt Crouch both also had stellar seasons and it wouldn’t surprise to see them pip Sloane in the most votes category.

Last year’s results is also a great guide to see what players attract the attention of the umpires.
